8 Months Old
8 Months Old and making great strides
Cole is 8 months old today and what a month it has been. After starting the month with a double ear infection and chapped face Cole figured he could only have better days from there. With the ear infection in the rear view and the face having it's good days and bad, Cole concentrated on getting back to checking things off his "growing up accomplishments" checklist.
As mentioned last month, Cole was beginning to push himself up with his arms but not quite getting the tail end to lift off the ground. Well, that didn't last long. Shortly after the 7th month post Cole was up on all fours and rocking back and forth... we figured crawling was the next logical step. Cole proved us wrong by leaning back on his hounch's and popping down on his backside. On Feb 8th, Cole sat by himself for the first time while at school. Rumor has it that it took him a while to figure what to do with his legs but after the 2nd time he had mastered it. Mom and Pop couldn't be happier. For the next 12 days Cole would roll, push up to all fours and then pop down into a sitting position. Good times... but Cole wasn't finished...
The morning on Feb 20 while waiting for his folks to get ready for work, Cole rolled over to check up on them, popped up on all fours and proceeded to start crawling. Apparently he had been getting some tips from the kids at his school because right out of the gate he was a natural (video coming soon). So now we have a very mobile child and the days of just putting him down and expecting him to stay in one place are long gone.
Cole spent the day with Mom and Dad in his new wagon that his Oma gave him for Christmas. Here are a few shots.
Here's to an exciting month of baby proofing the house!!!
As always... here is the updated look back at 8 months

Day at the Zoo
This past weekend was the first beautiful, sunny, 78 degree Southern California weekend in quite some time. A weekend that could not be spent couped up inside, so the family packed up all Cole's gear and headed to the LA Zoo (along with what seemed to be the rest of Southern Cal... it was PACKED).
Cole was able to see many of the animals that he sees around the house and at school in a stuffed variety or hears about in his books and songs. While we discovered that Cole may still be a bit young for the zoo (we did get a smile out of him when we saw the elephants and giraffes), he loved walking around in his stroller and seeing all that he could see.
Here are some pics of Cole with Mom and Pop.
We will head back soon to expose Cole to more fun animals.

Feelin' Good
We love the weekends. They are special days that allow us to spend precious time with Cole and play with him. It also allows us opportunity to capture those moments on film.
Cole has mastered the art of sitting. Making the smooth transition from back to tummy to knees to backside :) And with each passing day he is getting closer and closer to crawling. He often spends time on all fours contemplating the next steps. It is only a matter of time.
Here is a look back at some recent play time.

Cole McDonald
One of Cole's favorite songs is "Old McDonald". Everytime he hears it at home or school he lights up, smiles and begins to laugh. He seems to really enjoy hearing all the animal sounds.
For Christmas, Cole recieved a Fisher Price Touch and Feel Animal Sounds Farm which has quickly become one of his favorite toys. He enjoys opening the barn doors and hearing the sound of the animals that live inside.
The following video is a duet featuring Dad, Cole and the Animal Sounds Farm.

Rubbing Elbows
Every Tuesday Cole and his friends at the Sony Child Development Center go on a "Lot Walk" whereby all the infants are loaded up into buggies and taken for a walk around the Sony Pictures Lot.
This Tuesday, while on their walk they met a new friend... Adam Sandler! When Adam saw the kids rollin by he came out of his production offices to see all the cute kids. Cole's teacher, being quick on her feet, asked for photo with the children. Some were more interested than others.
As you can see... Cole was riding "in the backseat" on Tuesday and something else had caught his eye. Guess when you grow up in this city seeing a celebrity is just old hat (but Mom and Dad thought it was pretty cool)!

All Aboard
We are a little late in getting this latest video put together but it does bring back some great memories of Cole's first Christmas.
When we arrived in Sierra Vista to visit the grand parents, Pop Pop had set up his "Polar Express" train set that he had received for Christmas last year. Pop Pop had a Lionel train set when he was a kid so he was very excited to share his new "toy" with his grandson.
Cole took quite a liking to the train and was quickly behind the controls. It appears that he felt the train was going a bit fast and was quick to slow it down to a safer speed.
Here is a video of Cole's first day on the job.
